Exercise 1: <3 months: See the world from a cuddle

See the world from a cuddle

A simple exercise to encourage the young child to lift up her/his head and train the neck muscles. The exercise is aimed at very young children, under 3 months of age, but can also be used by older individuals, if the movement needs to be trained. For the exercise, you will need a chair or sofa where the seating angle can be adjusted, as well as toys that capture the child’s interest.

Description

In this exercise, the person training the child sits or lies back slightly, with the child on their chest. The exercise’s degree of difficulty can be adjusted by changing the inclination of the child – the more upright, the easier the exercise. Preferably use toys that the child likes to get the child to lift her/his head. Another option is to have someone behind and encourage her/him to move by using sounds, songs or toys. When the child is a bit older, a mirror can also be used to encourage movement. The exercise can be done several times every day. Remember to adjust the time the child exercises to what the child can manage.
