Exercise 3: <3 months: Soft legs

Soft legs

This is an important exercise for the child to maintain good mobility in the hips and knees. The exercise is aimed at very young children, under 3 months of age, but can also be used for older individuals if the movements need to be trained. For this exercise you need a nice, safe surface on which you can place the child.

 

Description

Place the child on her/his back on a surface with a height that is comfortable for the person providing the training. This can be a changing table or other place where the child is safe and secure. The exercise needs to be done several times every day and can be done during nappy changing time. Be sure to do the movements properly and keep the leg in an extended position. Preferably have a mobile, or other mobile toy, hanging above the changing table, or the place where you train the child, to distract the child and make her/him as relaxed as possible.
