Up and sit
This is an exercise where the child trains to sit up. The exercise is aimed at young children from about 6 months of age, but can also be used by older individuals where the movement needs to be trained. For this exercise, you need a soft but stable surface and toys that the child likes.
Description
Place the child in a forward-leaning position on a reasonably soft mat. Encourage the child to sit up by pushing herself/himself and walking with her/his hands on the surface. Use toys or anything else that entices the child to want to sit up. To make the exercise more difficult, you can place the child lying on her/his back or stomach. From this position, encourage the child to push herself/himself up to a sitting position using the strength of her/his hands and arms.
