Exercise 14: 1.5 years – 7 years : Play on your knees

Play on your knees

A good strength exercise for training hip stability. The exercise is aimed at children about 1 and a half up to 7 years of age, but can also be used by younger and older individuals where hip stability needs to be trained. For this exercise, you need a low table to stand next to and toys.

Description

Place the child in the kneeling position next to a low table. Place toys on the table that entice the child to kneel upright. Once in the upright kneeling position, the child can either sit down again to repeat the exercise or remain in position and train statically in the upright position. Remember not to train for too long if the child has reduced strength and be prepared to provide support if the child loses her/his balance.
