Please sit down
By the child slowly “sitting” down as far as she/he can to a squatting position, the child’s extensor muscles in the hips and knees can be trained effectively. The exercise is aimed at children from 7 years of age and upwards, but can also be used by younger individuals. The exercise requires a low table and toys or balls.
Description
Place the child in front of a low table or similar surface with toys or balls on it. Let the child gently bend at the hips and knees to pick up the toys or balls, but only so far down that the child does not need the help of her/his arms to get back up again. The degree of difficulty can be changed by adjusting the height that the toy or ball is retrieved from. A tip is to use balls with different weights. Keep in mind that for the weakest child who stands with outstretched legs, it is a very difficult exercise and the child may then need a person behind her/him for safety.
